How to email a PDF of the tax return to your client and save a copy to a DoxCycle PDF


When you're finished filing a return, there are two print jobs you need to put the return away for the year: send a copy to your client and add a copy to your files. 

In TaxCycle, it's easy to do this electronically rather than printing on paper. Here's how...

Set up the Client Copy print set to email a PDF

  1. Configure the Client Copy print set to print and email to PDFOpen the Print sidebar (Ctrl+P).
  2. In the Client Copy print set, click on the printer information to configure.
  3. In Printer/Output, select Adobe PDF.
  4. In Destination, select Email: Client Copy Cover email.
  5. If you want to set a password to prevent it from being opened by someone who doesn't have the password, choose a Password option.
  6. Check Prevent editing to secure the file so it cannot be edited.
  7. If you always want to use these settings for the Client copy, click the link at the bottom of the box to save these settings back into TaxCycle options.
  8. Click outside of the box to close it.

Tip: If you wanted to email the PDF right away, just click on the Adobe icon in the Client Copy box.

Set up the Office Copy to add the return to the DoxCycle file

  1. Configure the Office copy print set to print to DoxCycleIn the Office Copy print set, click on the printer information to configure.
  2. In Printer/Output, select DoxCycle PDF.
  3. If you always want to use these settings for the Client copy, click the link at the bottom of the box to save these settings back into TaxCycle options.

"Print" both copies

Now, check the print sets you want to print.

You can scroll and expand the headings to see which forms will print the list of forms for each print set.

When you're ready click, Print Selected at the bottom of the Print sidebar.

This adds the return to the DoxCycle file and at the same time creates an email with the PDF attached. 

The email uses the address from the Info form and the body is the contents of the Client Copy Email template. All you have to do is press Send!
