TaxCycle version 8.1.34657.0—2018 T1 EFILE and TP1 NetFile release


This major release prepares TaxCycle T1/TP1 2018 for the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) EFILE and Revenu Québec NetFile system opening on February 18, 2019. To transmit federal T1 and Québec TP1 returns, you must download and install this release.

This version is available as an automatic update, full download from our website and a free trial. (To deploy auto-update files from your own network, see the Auto-update files page.)

TaxCycle T1 2018 ready for EFILE

TaxCycle T1 2018 is certified by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for electronic filing when the system reopens on February 18, 2019. As of that date, you can use TaxCycle T1 to to access the following electronic services:

  • T1 EFILE for 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 initial personal income tax and benefit returns
  • Auto-fill my return (AFR) for 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 data (AFR for years 2015 to 2017 will only retrieve slip data)
  • ReFILE for 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 amended T1 returns
  • Express NOA for notices of assessment from 2016, 2017 and 2018
  • T1135 Foreign Income Verification Statement
  • Pre-authorized debit (PAD) requests for 2018 (PAD only support paying a balance due on current year returns)

In-progress T1 forms and calculations

The following 2018 forms are still in progress and will show a Preview watermark:

  • T1206 Tax on Split Income
  • T657 Calculation of Capital Gains Deduction for Canada
  • T2038 Investment Tax Credit (Individuals)
  • All capital cost allowance (CCA) forms, pending the new Accelerated CCA measures announced as part of the Accelerated Investment Incentive (AII)
  • All income statement forms, including those for: T776, T2125, T2121, T2042, T1273 and T1163
  • T777 Employment expenses form and worksheet
  • Motor vehicle worksheet

TaxCycle TP1 2018 ready for NetFile

TaxCycle T1/TP1 2018 is certified by Revenu Québec for electronic filing when the system reopens on February 18, 2019. In-progress TP1 forms and calculations

The following 2018 forms are still in progress and will show a Preview watermark:

  • All income statement forms, pending the new Accelerated CCA measures: TP-80, TP-128
  • TP-232.1 Business Investment Loss
  • TP-726.7 Capital Gains Deduction on Qualified Property
  • TP-729 Carry-Forward of Net Capital Losses
  • TP-1029.8.33.6 Tax Credit for an On-the-job Training Period
  • TP-752.HA Home Buyer's Tax Credit

Status of Accelerated CCA

Capital Cost Allowance (CCA) calculation changes related to the Accelerated Investment Incentive (AII) are currently available in TaxCycle T2 only (see the Accelerated CCA help topic). Similar changes will be available in T1/TP1, T3 and T5013 in an upcoming release.

If you are preparing T1, TP1, T3 or T5013 returns for clients that acquired depreciable assets after November 21 2018, we recommend waiting until these calculations are in place.


Customer requests

  • T1—Searching for T5006 in F4 Fast Find now brings up the Credits worksheet in TaxCycle T1.
  • T2—A new review message is triggered on Schedule 7 when the row in Part 3, Table 1 is for a designated partner—using the check box in column A—and columns 300, 310, 315, 325 or 330 contain an amount.
  • T2—A new Yes/No question at the bottom of the Instalment base calculation chart on the FederalInstalments worksheet allows you to trigger the calculation of instalments even when the base is less than $3,000.
  • T2—TaxCycle now carries forward share details from Schedule 19.
  • TP-646—New two-year and five-year variance summaries have been added for Québec TP-646 trust returns. These summaries are named TP646 2YearSummary and TP646 5YearSummary.
  • T4A-NR—You can now carry forward 2017 T4A-NR slip data from ProFile® FX into TaxCycle NR4 2018.

Template changes

  • Customer Request The client and family salutation snippets in TaxCycle T1/TP1 now use the title if it is entered on the Info worksheet for the client. This change affects the CSalutation and FSalutation snippets in T1 2018.
  • Customer Request The client letters in TaxCycle T1/TP1 now show a new paragraph if there is an outstanding debt on record with the CRA. This information appears on the Client Data Enquiry (CDE) worksheet after downloading from Auto-fill my return (AFR). This change affects the CLetter, JLetter and DLetter templates in T1 2018.
  • Customer Request The paragraph on applying for Old Age Security (OAS) no longer suggests that a person can defer receiving OAS by not applying for it.
  • The built-in French joint and family invoices (FactureF and FactureJ) now use the French letterhead snippet. This change affects the 2017 and 2018 templates.

Resolved issues

  • T4A-NR slip now uses RP in the account number field rather than RR.
  • The issue with transmission error 59130 preventing electronic filing of RL-31 slips has been resolved.
