Need instructions to give to your clients?
Download this PDF file or send them the link for step-by-step instructions. You can also send them the link to the video above to show them step-by-step. We also recommend you send them the instructions on signing in to TaxFolder.

When your tax preparer requests that you upload documents to your client portal in TaxFolder, you will receive an email.

  1. Do this first! If you do not have an account in TaxFolder, you will receive an email to verify your email address and activate your account. Click the Activate your account to set a password.
Screen Capture: Activate Your Account Button
  2. If you already have an account, or if you did not receive the activation email, go to the second email and click the link to Sign in to TaxFolder. This will automatically direct you to your client portal after signing in.
Screen Capture: Sign in to TaxFolder
  3. If you have forgotten your password or if you never previously set a password, click the Forgot your password? link to request a link to set a new password. Then, click the Sign in to TaxFolder button in the email again. This will automatically direct you to your client portal after signing in.
  4. Once you see the client portal screen, click on the Documents button.
    Screen Capture: Client Portal
  5. On the Your Documents tab, drag and drop your files onto the green area. Or click the green area to browse for your documents.
Screen Capture: Drop Files or Client to Upload
  6. To view any documents you uploaded, click on the document name.
  7. To remove a document, click on the trash can.
  8. Click Done to return to the previous screen.
    Screen Capture: Your Documents
  9. TaxFolder sends an email to your tax preparer informing them you uploaded documents.
  10. When you are finished, click your name in the top right of the window and select Sign Out. This is an important step to keep your documents private if someone else uses the same computer.
