TaxCycle TP1 2019 Ready for NetFile

TaxCycle T1/TP1 2019 is approved by Revenu Québec for electronic filing when the system reopens on February 24, 2020. As of that date, you can use TaxCycle to file 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 TP1 returns. To learn how to file TP1 returns from TaxCycle, review the TP1 NetFile Québec help topic.

AUT-01 Added to TaxCycle Forms

This release adds the AUT-01 Authorize a Representative for Access by Phone and Mail form to TaxCycle Forms. Complete this form to request offline access (by phone or mail only) to individual and business tax accounts. If you submit this form for clients for whom you already have an authorization, this will cancel your online access to their accounts.

Create a T3 Return with a Stub Period

Certain T3 returns with a year end other than December 31st are required to convert to a December 31st year end. Previously, this required you download an extension and add it to TaxCycle. As of this release, this functionality is included in TaxCycle T3.

  1. When a T3 return meets the required criteria, TaxCycle will show a review message on the Tax year end field.
  2. Click the Create a T3 stub period return button to create a new file for the stub period with a December 31st year end. Data from the first file will carry forward into the new return.

Customer Requests

  • Updated the Exclude slip check box so that when it's checked, TaxCycle doesn't trigger review messages for the slip and excludes the slip's amounts from the slips summary. Changes apply to the following slips: T4, T4A, T4PS, T4A-RCA, T4A-NR, NR4, T5, T5018. Other slip types will follow in a later release.
  • Corrected the multiple jurisdiction calculations for cases where the principal taxpayer only has a federal return and the spouse has both a federal and Québec return.
  • Resolved an issue where TaxCycle wasn't creating the related RL-1 slip if the T4A slip recipient was a corporation.
  • Resolved an issue carrying forward T5013 line 222 and 225 from Taxprep®.

Template Changes

  • Changed the field code for the Medical Expenses section in 2019 T1 client letters (CLetter, JLetter, DLetter). It changed from {{ S1.FederalNRTC.M[45] }} to {{ T1.FederalNRTC.M[45] }} to reflect the S1 becoming part of the T1 jacket. Please update any customized templates with this change. Read the related known issue for more information.
  • Removed the section on the Alberta Family Employment Tax Credit (AFETC) from the T1 client letters (CLetter, JLetter).
  • Changed the name of the Alberta Child Benefit (ACB) to the Alberta Child and Family Benefit (ACFB) in the T1 client letters (CLetter, JLetter).
