UPDATE: CRA Processing Issues: Incorrect Setting of Error Clues (March 24, 2021)

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is currently experiencing difficulties receiving transmissions of certain returns as listed below. These are CRA issues related to the processing systems and error clues being set incorrectly.

Schedule 11 (Two Variations of Error Clue 513)

Error clue 513 is incorrectly setting for EFILE and NETFILE returns when the provincial tuition amount has been reduced by the claim at the Canada training credit. This causes the system to reject since the federal amount does not match the provincial amount.

STATUS – The fix has been in effect since March 15. Returns previously rejected due to this issue can now be transmitted.

Error clue 513 is incorrectly setting for EFILE and NETFILE returns for the 2017 tax year for Ontario Residents where the taxpayer has up to 4 months of part-time or full-time studies at federal field 325 or 328 respectively without a corresponding amount at provincial field 5916 or 5918. The system generates error clue 513 because it expects an entry at F5916 or F5918 based on the corresponding federal entry at F325 or F328. However, for Ontario residents completing a tax year 2017 return, the taxpayer can have up to 4 months in F325 or F328 without a corresponding entry at F5916 or F5918 to account for the period ineligible for the provincial tuition credits.

STATUS – The fix has been in effect since March 22. Returns previously rejected due to this issue can now be transmitted.

Manitoba Provincial Tax Credit

Error clue 2096 is incorrectly setting on EFILE returns due to the system including the credit of $200.00 on the taxpayers’ returns. The system then generates error since the taxpreparer’s calculated credits is not the same as the system calculated credits.

STATUS – The fix has been in effect since March 16. Error clue 2096 is no longer incorrectly setting. Returns previously rejected due to this issue can now be transmitted.
