Xero Invoicing

Easily export client billing information from TaxCycle to Xero to invoice your clients in Xero® based on the work completed in TaxCycle.

To use this feature, you must have a current subscription to Xero.

Connect to Xero

  1. In TaxCycle, open Options. Go to the File menu, then Options. Or, if you are on the Start screen, click Options in the blue bar on the left.
  2. On the left, expand Return Preparation and click on Invoicing.
  3. Select Xero from the Invoice using the drop-down menu.
  4. Click Connect.

  5. TaxCycle will launch a browser to connect with Xero. Log in to your Xero account. The first time you connect from TaxCycle, Xero will ask you to confirm that you wish to allow TaxCycle access to the data in your firm's Xero account. Click Allow access to grant permission.

  6. Once you see a message in your browser confirming that TaxCycle has successfully connected to Xero, you can close your browser window.
  7. TaxCycle Options also displays a message confirming the connection to Xero. Click OK or Apply to save.

Default Export Settings

  1. In TaxCycle, open Options. Go to the File menu, then Options. Or, if you are on the Start screen, click Options in the blue bar on the left.
  2. On the left, expand Return Preparation and click on Invoicing
  3. Select a Default organization that will send the invoices to your clients. This list may include all the organizations you have access to in Xero. Select your firm to invoice your clients.
  4. Select the Default action for clients who are not yet set up as contacts in Xero. Regardless of the setting here, you can change this action before you send the invoice to Xero. Setting No default in options means that you must make the choice each time.
  5. Choose whether the invoice amounts sent to Xero include tax (Tax inclusive), exclude tax (Tax exclusive) or are non-taxable (No tax).
  6. Select the Default account for items invoiced from TaxCycle.
  7. Enter the Default line item description for items invoiced from TaxCycle.
  8. Select the Default line item code for items invoiced from TaxCycle.
  9. Enter the Default reference number for items invoiced from TaxCycle.
  10. Check the box to Sort Contacts by last name.

Export Invoice to Xero

Once you have established a link with your Xero account, you can export the information from the Billing worksheet to the company file.

  1. In TaxCycle, open the Billing worksheet.
  2. At the top of the worksheet, click the link to Export invoice to Xero.
  3. If TaxCycle cannot find a contact in Xero that matches the details in the Xero account, click Create contact.
  4. To choose an existing Xero contact, click Select contact.
  5. Click once to choose from the list of customers, then click OK.

  6. TaxCycle creates the invoice in Xero and adds a memo to the Invoice number field on the Billing worksheet to indicate that the invoice was generated in Xero.

  7. Go into Xero to send the invoice to your client.
