How to Upload Documents to TaxFolder

When your tax preparer requests that you upload documents to your client portal in TaxFolder, you will receive an email.

  1. Do this first! If you do not have an account, you will receive an email to verify your email address and activate your account. Click  Activate now to set a password.

  2. If you already have an account, or if you did not receive the activation email, go to the second email and click the link to Sign in to TaxFolder. This will automatically take you to the Your Engagements screen after signing in.
  3. Enter your email address and password.
  4. Click the Sign In Now button. This will automatically take you to the Your Engagements screen.
  5. If you never activated your account or you have forgotten your password, click the Forgot your password? link and follow the instructions to set a new password. After, return to step 2 of these instructions.
  6. Once you see Your Engagements screen, click on the Documents button.
  7. On the My Documents tab, drag and drop your files onto the green area. Or click the green area to browse for your documents.
    • Supported file formats include: .pdf, .doc, .docx, .xls,
      .xlsx, .rtf, .txt, .jpg, .jpeg, .tiff, .tif, .xps, .csv, .gfi, .qbb,
      .qbm, .zip
    • Recommend file size is 1 MB or less for documents and
    • If using a scanner, we recommend you scan at 150 dpi in
      black and white using a page size of 8 ½” by 11”.
    • If using photos, we recommend choosing the small file
      size option for upload.
  8. To view any documents you uploaded, click the document name.
  9. To remove a document, click the trash can.
  10. Click Exit to return to the Your Engagements screen.
  11. TaxFolder sends an email to your tax preparer informing them you uploaded documents.
  12. When you are finished, click your name in the top right of the window and select Sign Out. This is an important step to keep your documents private if someone else uses the same computer.
