It's time to retire Windows® 7

After January 14, 2020, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or support for PCs running Windows® 7. We recommend you upgrade now and move to Windows® 10.

Three great reasons to upgrade

  1. Once support ends, you will stop receiving security and feature updates. Without security updates, your client data is at risk.
  2. Windows® 7 is ten years old. You're likely not using a ten-year-old PC, so why still use a ten-year-old operating system?
  3. TaxCycle is built to run on new technology. It performs better on Windows® 10.

Buying new hardware too?

If you're also thinking of purchasing new hardware, take a look at our recommended system requirements to make sure you buy a PC that meets at least those needs so it will last into the future.

What if I can't upgrade yet?

In the rare case that is not possible to complete an upgrade to your firm's systems before January 14, 2020, Microsoft has made available an option to purchase extended security updates for Windows® 7 Professional and Windows® 7 Enterprise through January 2023. This extension is intended only for customers with volume licenses and is only available through a qualified Microsoft partner. It must also be purchased before January 14, 2020. For an in-depth FAQ about Windows® 7 Extended Security Updates, please download the Microsoft end of support FAQ.

During the coming tax season, TaxCycle and DoxCycle will still install and function on Windows® 7. However, we recommend only doing so if you have purchased extended security updates. And, in July 2020, we will also discontinue support for Windows® 7.
