Alberta Wildfires: Waivers of Penalties and Interest

On July 31, 2024, the Government of Alberta’s Tax and Revenue Administration (TRA) issued a special notice to provide information on the waiver of penalties and interest for tax obligations for individuals and businesses affected by recent wildfires.

The TRA advises that individuals and businesses affected by the wildfires should submit their returns and make payments as soon as possible. If a penalty or interest is assessed, an application for a waiver of penalties or interest may be submitted to the TRA for consideration.
