EFILE Error 2252: HBP Repayment Amount Cannot be Less than the Required Minimum Amount

We are aware that TaxCycle users may have encountered EFILE error 2252 more frequently since mid-June than earlier in the tax season. This is due to a discrepancy between the HBP reimbursement amount entered in the tax return and the amount that the CRA has on file.

Mandatory Internet Filing and Electronic Payments

Bill C-47 makes internet filing for T2 returns mandatory regardless of the corporation’s gross revenue. This rule comes into effect on January 1, 2024, and applies to T2 returns with a tax year beginning after 2023.
