CRA Intermittent Submission Issues

If you are subscribed to the Electronic Filing of Information Returns and use the Internet File Transfer (IFT) application, you may encounter the following error while submitting an XML file via My Business Account or Represent a client, on the “File a return - Confirm of receipt” page:

Error - General
Please contact CRA.

You may also encounter the following error while submitting an XML file if you are accessing the IFT application with a Web Access Code (WAC), on the T619 page after selecting “Submit”:

Error:
We cannot process your request at this time. We regret the inconvenience. Please try again later.

If you encounter one of these errors, please ensure all mandatory fields are completed, and remove any empty optional tags and shortcut tags. After making the necessary corrections, rename the file, clear your cache, log out of the system, and log back in before attempting to resubmit.

To prevent potential submission issues, ensure that the Name, Address, Country and Province fields contain valid text and are not left blank or filled with spaces. As a best practice, if no information is to be provided for a given optional tag, remove the tag entirely rather than replacing its content with blank spaces.

IMPORTANT

Due to the high volume of returns expected in the coming week, processing times may be slightly longer than usual. When uploading a file through the Internet File Transfer (IFT) application, we recommend allowing up to two minutes for your submission to transmit successfully. Please do not navigate away from the application until you receive a confirmation message from our system.

If the issue persists, please contact the CRA
