We are aware of several reports of preparers receiving a “data error” while using the Canada Revenue Agency’s (CRA) Auto-fill My Return (AFR) service.
The full error message appears in a green box at the top of the TaxCycle window and is similar to the one below:
Tax data was found for download but issues were encountered. Some parts of the data that were not retrieved may be available when these issues are resolved at a later time. The following databases returned an error: slips. Please download again and clear the check box next for data grouping causing the error. For further assistance, contact TaxCycle support.
The databases that return an error may vary. For example, slips, carryover or summary.
This error is generated by the CRA’s servers during the data retrieval process and is likely due to an intermittent issue with the CRA’s AFR service. This is not a TaxCycle software malfunction.
We recommend waiting an hour or two and attempting the download again later.
The CRA has informed us that they resolved this issue on Tuesday, March 10 at 12:25 p.m. EDT.
