Known Issue: Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 22H2

TaxCycle may generate a fatal error after the installation of October 25, 2022-KB5018341 Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 22H2 (microsoft.com)

The TaxCycle logs show "Error : Unexpected MainUiThread exception."

Solution

We advise anyone with this "preview" Windows Update pending to wait for the next .NET update before installing. We generally advise avoiding any Windows updates marked as "preview."

If you already installed this update, and it is less than 10 days ago, you can uninstall the update to try to resolve the issue.

1. Select Start > Settings > Windows Update > Update history > Uninstall updates.
2. On the list that appears, select update you want to remove, then select Uninstall.
