TaxCycle 13.1.52777.0—2023 Multiple Jurisdiction Returns

This release allows for the transmission through EFILE of multiple jurisdiction returns in TaxCycle T1 2023.

Release Highlights

Status of T1 Forms

The CRA has approved the multiple jurisdiction forms (T2203) in TaxCycle T1. You may now EFILE T1 returns containing these forms.

You may now also transmit the following returns: 

  • Non-residents of Canada filing a return under Section 116
  • Emigrant returns (those who have departed Canada in the tax year)

The CRA had intended to allow certain returns for deemed residents to be transmitted through EFILE for the 2023 taxation year. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, this initiative has been deferred to a future year.

All other 2023 T1 forms were finalized in previous releases.

Forms Updates

  • Added additional review messages for exemptions claimed in Parts 4, 5 and 6 of the UHT-2900 as requested by the CRA. You can claim one exemption in each part.

Customer Requests

  • T3—Added the field Operating name in the Preparer section of the Engagement worksheet. screen capture: operating name field
  • T3 2021–2023—Fixed an unnecessary page break in the engagement letter. Also fixed the salutation snippet in the French engagement letter.
  • Added a new keyboard shortcut (Alt+Shift+P) to print all selected forms in the print set.

Resolved Issues

  • T1—The BC479 renter’s tax credit now uses the income of a non-resident spouse in the calculation.
  • T1—Canada Training Credit limit: The earned income limit used to determine if the client is entitled to an additional $250 in 2024 has been updated to $11,511.
  • T1—The ON428A now calculates Part B instead of Part A for cases where the client was widowed during the year, and TaxCycle uses the deceased spouse’s income in the calculation of the amount of the credit to which they are entitled.
  • Customer Reported T3—Fixed the filing deadline for T3 returns with a December 31 year end to account for April 1st as a CRA holiday.
  • T3—Fixed the salutations on the engagement letter to better accommodate multiple trustees.
  • Customer Reported T5013—Resolved an issue where foreign capital gains were not always correctly transferring to line 156 on the S1WS when there were Canadian and foreign capital gains or losses.
  • Customer Reported TaxCycle Forms—Resolved an issue where TaxCycle was not automatically generating the T2060A schedules when partners were added in the “Election and certification” section of the T2060.
  • Customer Reported TaxCycle Forms—Added Fast Find (F4) support for forms T183UHT, T183SER and T2183.
