RESOLVED: Logo and Signature Broken in Templates

TaxCycle version 12.0.48650.0 cannot display the logo and signature images in templates when referenced from Options. This is the default configuration for the built-in Letterhead and Closing snippets.

Workaround

Insert the images directly into the Letterhead and Closing snippets. Customizing only the letterhead snippet allows you to create a custom letterhead while keeping the default content in the body of the built-in template intact, so that it continues to receive updates in software releases.

  1. In the Template Editor, find the Letterhead snippet in the sidebar and click on it. (Note that at this point, the image will appear correctly in the template editor preview, even if it does not work in a tax return file.)
  2. Click the clone link in the message bar at the top of the window to create a copy.
  3. Delete the image that appears in the template.
  4. Click the Insert Picture button and browse for the image file to insert it. (If clicking the toolbar button doesn’t work, try dragging and dropping the image file onto the template to insert it.)
  5. To apply this change across other years or modules, adjust the Properties sidebar.
  6. Click on the module and year.
  7. In the dialog box that opens, check all the modules that apply. To use the snippet in all modules, click Select all modules.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Click Save.
  10. Repeat these steps for the Closing snippet.
  11. Close and reopen any TaxCycle files to see the changes.
