Choosing a Scanner

Looking for a scanner to use with DoxCycle? Most scanners work with DoxCycle. If you’re buying new and want the easiest process look for a scanners with the following specifications.

What to look for...

We recommend buying a scanner with the following specs:

• TWAIN-compliant. This means DoxCycle can directly control the scanner. Most scanners on the market are TWAIN compliant, but a few popular scanners (like the Fujitsu ScanSnap) are not.
• Document feeder. Pick a scanner with a document feeder so you can stack papers and let it do the work of feeding them in. (A flatbed scanner means you'll need to swap each page out one at a time.

DoxCycle supports older Fujitsu ScanSnap scanners via an alternate workflow, but if you're going to buy a new one, we suggest the TWAIN-compliant models for the most efficient processing.

What you might want to avoid...

• Multi-function. We've found that the configuration of multi-function machines can be more challenging. That said, they still work. It's just they may be trickier to set up.
• Wireless connection. We recommend connecting your scanner directly to a computer using a USB cable.
• Not directly connected to the computer running DoxCycle. While it seems like a great idea to have one scanner accessible to everyone in the office, it adds extra work for your staff if they need to walk over and feed in the receipts. However, you can still easily set up DoxCycle to monitor a folder on a scanning station to bring in documents.

Remote Desktop (RDP) or Terminal Server...

For offices running Remote Desktop (RDP) or Terminal Server, third-party solutions exist that provide scanning capabilities for remote sessions.

While we do not verify DoxCycle works with any specific vendor, but here are a few tools you can try:
