Unclassified Documents

Classification Assistant

  1. If DoxCycle does not recognize a document, it will mark it as Unclassified. When this happens, an orange bar appears at the top of the window.
  2. Click Fix Now to enter the Classification Assistant.
  3. Click Ignore to close the orange bar. You can classify documents later from the document index or Page Assistant.

  4. In the Classification Assistant, all unclassified pages appear as thumbnails on the left. Click on a page on the left to see a preview on the right.
  5. Check multiple pages on the left to assign the same information to all of them or combine them into a single multi-page document (use Alt+A to select all pages).
  6. Check Combine pages into a single document to create a multi-page document.
  7. Review or answer the “who?” and “what?” questions at the top of the assistant. (DoxCycle will already have made its best guesses.) This information shows up in the index and in the Page Assistant.
  8. When you’re happy with the details, click OK. The document thumbnail(s) will disappear. (They are now categorized and will appear in the index once you exit the assistant.)
  9. If you’re not yet ready to fix the classification for a particular document, click Ignore and the document will also disappear from the list but will remain in the index as Unclassified.
  10. Click Delete to permanently remove the page.
  11. Once you deal with all the documents, the Classification Assistant will disappear. Or, if you’re done, you can click Finish Later. To return to the Classification Assistant later, right-click on the document in the index and select Classification Assistant to return. Or, click Classification in the Home menu.

Drag and drop to classify documents

  1. Drag-and-drop pages in the index to change their classification.
  2. Click and hold down on a document. Move your cursor to drag it.
  3. Pause for a few seconds on a folder to see the full list of document types under that folder.
  4. Drop the document on the type.
  5. DoxCycle changes the document to that type.

Classify documents using the Page Assistant

  1. Bookmark a page to mark it in the index.
  2. Click the review check mark once to indicate a first review (blue check mark). Click again for a second review (green check mark). Click a third time to remove all check marks (grey check mark).
  3. Type in the first field to change the document type. This field auto-completes based on the types available within the document outline.
  4. Type in the second field to change the document issuer/description. This field auto-completes based on items you’ve typed before.
  5. To associate this page with a different taxpayer, choose a different taxpayer from the drop-down list.
  6. Click the link button to open the linked document in TaxCycle.
  7. Click the blue arrow to highlight the page in the index.
  8. Click the trash can to delete the page. See "Deleted items" on page 50.
  9. Click the wrench to see additional tasks, such as rotating the page, saving the page as a separate PDF or sending us feedback.

Edit document type and taxpayer in the index

You can edit documents names and the category the are associated with from the:

  1. If a document is associated with the wrong taxpayer, right click on the document and select Switch Taxpayer to move it.
  2. To change the document type, double-click twice, slowly, on the part before the dash.
  3. Select a new type from the list, or type the name and press Enter.
  4. If the new document type belongs under different category, DoxCycle will move it there.
  5. The part after the dash is the document name. Double-click twice, slowly, to edit the name in the same way. 
  6. DoxCycle shares the auto-complete lists for the document type and issuer/name with TaxCycle, so it will help you keep document names consistent.
