TaxCycle Go FAQ

What do I get for free in TaxCycle Go?

You can use TaxCycle Go to set up your organization, configure roles and permissions, and manage and distribute shared options profiles. It gives your firm a foundation for using TaxCycle’s cloud capabilities. Cloud storage for tax returns is part of TaxCycle Go Essentials.

Do I have to move everything to the cloud?

No. TaxCycle Go is designed as a hybrid solution to support a gradual transition. We’re adding cloud capabilities while maintaining the rich editing experience of TaxCycle Desktop, an experience we know is important to your firm. You can learn about the free TaxCycle Go experience first and decide whether cloud storage through TaxCycle Go Essentials is right for your firm.

Where is TaxCycle Go data stored?

All tax data, including backups, stored in TaxCycle Go is hosted on Canadian servers. Third-party integrations or supporting services do not have access to your tax return data without your explicit consent.

If I move returns to TaxCycle Go Essentials, can I move them back to desktop later?

You can bulk export returns from TaxCycle Go Essentials back to local storage. This means if your firm’s needs change, or if you decide cloud storage isn’t right for certain returns, you have a straightforward way to move them back to your desktop. You can keep some returns in the cloud for team access and bring others back to local storage as needed.

How does DoxCycle work with TaxCycle Go?

We’ve chosen not to support DoxCycle storage in TaxCycle Go at this time. TaxCycle tax returns are stored in TaxCycle Go’s cloud infrastructure, while DoxCycle files remain stored locally or on a shared drive, just as they are today. The link between TaxCycle and locally stored DoxCycle files continues to work the same way.

When will I be able to prepare tax returns in the cloud?

Cloud tax return preparation is something we’re exploring for the future, but it is not part of the initial TaxCycle Go launch and we don’t have a date to share today. Our focus is on unlocking value sooner through a staged, hybrid approach: adding practical cloud capabilities that work alongside TaxCycle Desktop and building from that foundation over time. This lets you benefit from cloud access, organization, shared settings, roles and permissions, and return-status visibility now. We’ll share more as plans develop.
