First-Time Client Manager Setup

If you have a license for the Client Manager, you will see the search bar and the Quick Searches sidebar on the TaxCycle Start screen even if you haven't configured the Client Manager yet.

  1. If you try searching, it shows any servers in your office available for connection. Click on one of these servers to connect your installation of TaxCycle to a existing Client Manager server on your office network or on your computer.
  2. Below that, it gives you the option to Set up a server. Click this to set up a stand-alone Client Manager on just one computer or to make the computer you are on the server. This option also allows you to create a private server that no one else on your network can access.
  3. If you click on the Quick Searches sidebar, you will see the option to connect to a server now or do it later.
  4. Click I don’t want to do this now to hide the setup options.

How you choose to set up the Client Manager on a given computer depends on whether you want to share it with others across your office, and whether you want to create a server or connect to an existing server.

Do you use TaxCycle on just one computer?

Do you want to keep the Client Manager private from others on your network?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, choose Set up a server.

Re-open the Client Manager setup wizard

If you choose not to set up the Client Manager when you first run TaxCycle, you can re-open the Client Manager setup wizard:

  1. If you are on the Start screen, click on Options in the blue bar on the left. If you have a file open, go to the File menu, then click on Options.
  2. Expand TaxCycle and select Client Manager on the left.
  3. On the right, click the Setup Wizard link.
